The 2009 Hyundai Accent GS is powered by a 1.6-liter double overhead-cam engine that produces 110 horsepower, and features variable valve timing. A five-speed manual transmission is standard; a four-speed automatic transmission is optional. The environmentally friendly Accent has an Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle II rating. Standard safety features include front seatbelt pre-tensioners and six airbags (front, seat-mounted side-impact, and side-curtain) as standard on all models.
