I got this pc on march 12th 2010 and it’s fast! However it won’t play half the games out there today due to being windows 7 and most games aren’t compatible.
The only gripe I have with this pc are the speakers are SO soft even all the way up. Very disappointed: it sounds like they are only at 15 percent when cranked all the way.It gives such a massive huge way to tweak the sounds to make it sound like it’s in an orchestra hall, a church, a jazz club, plus eq and all other things – but when you have to strain hard to hear anything when it’s up all the way, you got problems.
I got this laptop in March at Best buy and I’ve been very impressed with it. Some of the older games I found wont run the greatest and some wouldn’t install which I found a work around for that, right click on the .exe and click on properties and go to compatibility and force the game to run in XP mode. Problem solved. The video card on this thing is great, the I5 processor is awesome, wish it had an I7 but unless you run apps and games that use HT their really isn’t a need for the i7 yet. The ram although its DDR 3 the windows rating for the ram sits at 5.9 which is .2 faster than my other laptop running DDR 2 667mhz ram, makes me think Asus skimped on the quality of ram!
My biggest gripe about this laptop is the heat, unless you pick up a high end cooling pad, you wont be able to play games for very long, without a cooling pad you may get to run this thing for an hr and it will lock up because of the heat. make sure you spend at least 40.00+ on a cooling pad and make sure it has 2+ fans on it, 4 is better.
Lastly is the keyboard, its cool that it lights up but if you plan to do any book reports or any kind of typing on this thing good luck, start typing and some of the keys you press wont show on the screen. don’t know if its because of my fat fingers but it gets annoying trying to write a report and having to hit backspace a million times.
the Pros out weigh the Cons i must say, this is by far the fastest laptop I have ever owned. And will purchase another Asus laptop in the future so long as they improve the keyboard.

ok for people who have heat issues with the asus, power off your laptop and take off the bottom plate. once the bottom plate is off look for the fan cable and unplug it. there should be a blue wire there, get a small flat head screw driver and only unplug this wire from the lock. once you do this get electrical tape and secure it so it doesnt touch any components inside the computer. the wire can be plugged in later and wont damage anything. put the plate on and turn on the laptop and see the magic of full fan speed. hope this helps everyone who is having heat issues.
