The battery contacts on the body of the gadget don’t come far up enough to touch the batteries, because the batteries get hung up on the central divider. To fix this problem, I wrapped aluminum foil around some poly foam, which allowed it to make connection. Then, the “switch” used to turn it on is so cheap that unless you are really careful putting the base on after installing batteries, it either shorts or doesn’t come into contact with the metal bridge on the slider. Finally, the grid under the fan is bowed, and rubs against the fan blade, making a racket, so you have to bend that down.
